One of my greatest strengths is my ability to maintain a relentless focus. The problem is… it’s also my biggest weakness. Throughout my premed years and even when I was dancing, I was constantly moving and doing. I was always busy working on something to help me achieve the next goal on my list. In the midst of all this type A, overachieving craziness, I would sometimes forget to actually enjoy the process.
This past year, I’ve been doing my best to make a conscious effort to find joy in the little things and to appreciate the beauty around me. I’ve been going for more walks, pausing outside my car for a few moments to soak up some sun, and savoring my food instead of just scarfing it down.
Here’s a little nature from my trip to West Palm Beach this past weekend. Looking into the gigantic ocean is so humbling and grounding. It really puts things in perspective for me if I let it 🙂
And this latte design literally made my day this afternoon! The Whole Food’s barista was laughing at me as I paused to admire his work and take a picture (but I think he secretly felt proud lol).
This sugar cookie with buttercream frosting and pink sprinkles tasted even better than it looks and I enjoyed every last crumb. No regrets 🙂
Appreciating little moments throughout my day really makes me feel so much happier and I find that I am so much more grateful. I’m going to do my best to continue with these intentions no matter how busy I get. Even if it’s the smallest thing, once a day. I want to find joy in the journey and I think you should too! Trust me, the rewards are definitely worth it 🙂
