Apples with peanut butter has a special place in my heart. When I was dancing, this was one of my go-to snacks because it was both filling and light. But also because it gave me an excuse to eat peanut butter 🙂 Nowadays I like to add fun toppings and turn it into a dessert or small meal.
Today’s apple slices were extra delicious because of my oh so favorite chocolate chip addition!
- unsweetened, natural creamy peanut butter
- 1 granny smith apple
- handful of chopped roasted almonds
- sprinkle of semi-sweet chocolate chips
I know some people go crazy with peanut butter and eat it by the jar, while others steer clear of it because they think its a “fattening” food. In my opinion, natural unsweetened PB is a great source of healthy fat as long as you stick to a relatively normal serving size. Its the perfect condiment for fruit and can add just the right amount of fat and protein to a meal or snack. And its definitely better than eating an entire snickers bar or downing a ton of soda… so… you get my point 🙂
